Vacation and then some

Vacation is over now and I am taking a week to recover.  No plans for me this Friday or Saturday or Sunday, except for church.

I spent last week in Michigan visiting family, going to weddings, and laying on the beach.  Lake Michigan is really the best most beautiful place in the world.  Every time I go to the ocean I'm always disappointed because it never compares to the shores of Lake Michigan.  I suppose Eleuthera Island in the Bahamas came very close because there were awesome shells to collect.  Lake Michigan has awesome stones to collect and beach glass too, and if you go up to Lake Superior, you can collect agates, which to me are more awesome than shells.

Even with all the dead fish that washed up on shore, it was amazing.  They didn't smell and the black flies hadn't come yet.

Josh and I made a sand castle.  When we started he promised I could demolish it, and then when we were done, he said, no I couldn't.  That's okay though, the next day I got to show it to my mom.  She came up and visited one of the days.  We went on a hike and then laid out on the beach.

I got to see Megan's brand new baby, Aria, have dinner with my Grandma, go to my grandpa's 80th birthday party, see Josh's brother's new apartment, camp with his mom, go to his dad's wedding, go to my cousin Kuirsta's wedding, talk to second cousins from the Netherlands, and see the Traverse City fireworks with Justin and Jeremy, Josh's high school friends.

We took my truck and it went great, but we had to have all the windows open the whole time b/c it doesn't have air condition and it's too expensive to get fixed.  We checked.  It made it a very lonely/relaxing trip because Josh and I couldn't talk too much or listen to too much music.  The air rushing through the open windows made it too loud to hear.

MMMMMmmmmm....I am baking a blueberry pie to bring into work tomorrow.  Someone had brought in a bunch of fresh picked blueberries and I asked to take some home for pie.  It's the best crust I've made ever!  I was worried because of the humidity here, the crusts get soft and hard to roll out well.  To solve this I put the bowl in the freezer before I added the ice cold water to it.  It rolled out very nicely!  AND I was able to roll it out to be the exact perfect size.  I can't wait for tomorrow so I can eat it!  We made ice cream at work yesterday and put the blueberries into that.  I've never had homemade ice cream before and it's really really good!  It gives me gas though....but really, what doesn't?

I bought four large bags of cat food at Meijer in Michigan because it costs half as much as here.  Four bags was as much as I could carry or else I'd have gotten more.  Ackbar was very happy that we brought him home something from our trip.  He got into his treats while we were gone and then puked them up on the floor and buried it with his cookie toy.  Poor guy.

I think I'm developing food allergies to gluten, or I'm crazy, or it's something else.  I just don't feel right.  I'm always always tired.  Sometimes when I eat food I start feeling nausious and get tired and don't finish it.  I've stopped drinking beer because it makes me feel bad.  I totally get put out of commission and must lay down like a big baby.  I just want to do stuff with my life!!! It's so frustrating!  I want to clean my apartment, finish my projects, create things, organize my house.  All day at work I think about what I want to do once I get home.  Then when I am home, I'm soooo tired and exhausted and brain dead I can't move.  I really do get 8 hrs of sleep a night too.  Mostly I'm so tired and bored I just want to go to sleep so it will be the next day sooner so something else happens.  I always think "Maybe tomorrow will be better..."

Poor Ackbar. :(

Hmm... We have a good friend that has Celiacs and is lactose intolerant. I've also been wondering if I'm developing food allergies. I think I would cry for days if I were getting allergic to gluten. Anyway, he drinks Woodchuck beer! Maybe you can try it. :) It's actually hard cider, so Josh would probably like it, too.

What a beautiful vacation! I'm so sorry you're not feeling the best :( When our girls visited the allergist many years ago, she suggested a food diary. She also suggested a three day 'overkill' for foods that might produce intolerance. We began with dairy. After 3 days of heavy dairy foods, we stopped dairy altogether for 2 weeks before beginning another suspected allergen. MSG can be very upsetting which may include Chinese food, flavored chips or snacks such as popcorn, beef jerky, canned chicken or beef based soups, etc. Another problem could be citrus, seafood, gluten or peanuts. Good luck and try to stay positive! ... and find a very supportive physician :)

Ryan, Woodchuck beer is an excellent idea! It's what I give people who don't like beer but want to like it. :)

Sally (Spleena!!!), I know it's not lactose intolerance that's making me sick b/c I don't eat a lot of dairy...because I think I am slightly intolerant of it. If that makes sense? I know how it affects me already. And it's not seafood b/c I don't eat that, and we already try to cut MSG out of our food. But it could be peanuts or citrus or gluten. Thank you for all your suggestions! I do need to find a physician!
